Audio Control

Description

Tests the Audio Control buttons functionality.

Instructions

  1. Toggle the Mute Button when required.
  2. Press the Volume Up Button the same number of times as the test requires.
  3. Press the Volume Down Button the same number of times as the test requires.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.
Expected outcome: Touching each button as the test requires should result in the appropriate audio functionality.

Note:  Android test just Volume Up and Down buttons.

Back Camera & Flash

Description

Tests that Back Camera and Flash works properly.

Instructions

  1. Pro-D will request permission to access the Camera. Click “OK”.
  2. Press Start Camera Test.
  3. Tap the screen to take a picture.
  4. Confirm whether flash was triggered by taking the picture.
  5. Confirm a picture has been taken.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

Recommend to use a “Color Test Chart” to verify the image quality.

Zoom in to inspect the image if necessary.

Back Camera 2

Description

Tests that Back Camera 2 works properly.

Instructions

  2. Tap the screen to take a picture.
  3. Confirm a picture has been taken.

Zoom in to inspect the image if necessary.

Description

Inspect whether the back cover is cracked.

Instructions

  1.  Inspect the back cover for cracks or scratches according to your internal cosmetic criteria specifications

Description

Tests that the backlight functionality works by changing the screen brightness level.

Instructions

  1. Confirms if the brightness of the screen dims and varies.

Battery Health

Description

Evaluates battery overall health condition including level, status, charge cycle and temperature.

Instructions

Automated test.

Additional Info

Battery health values are predetermined based on your company requirements.

Note: For Android devices with removable battery this test is not available.

Bluetooth Scanner

Bluetooth Scanner

Description

Tests Bluetooth scanning functionality. Checks that Bluetooth devices can be listed and detected.

Note: For testing actual connectivity, there must be a Bluetooth device in pairing mode available.

Instructions

  1. Bluetooth option has to be enabled in order to run the test.

Additional Info

Automated test. Reports on what the phone detects.
If a paired Bluetooth device is detected and listed, the device will pass.

Display Cracked

Display Cracked

Description

Inspect whether the display is cracked.

Instructions

  1. Inspect the Display for cracks or scratches according to your internal cosmetic criteria specifications.

Face ID

Face ID

Description

Check that the Face ID sensor functions properly.

Instructions

  1. Click Open Settings.
  2. Go to Face ID menu.
  3. Set up Face ID by following the instructions.
  4. Go to Passcode menu.
  5. Set up a Passcode by following the instructions.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

This test is only functional for phone models with Face ID available.

Front Camera

Front Camera

Description

Tests that the Front Camera works properly.

Instructions

  1. Pro-D will request permission to access the Camera. Click “OK”.
  2. Tap the screen to take a picture.
  3. Confirm a picture has been taken.

Additional Info

Operator shouldn’t be in the picture frame.

Zoom in to inspect the image if necessary.

Recommend to use a “Color Test Chart” to verify the image quality.

Phone Test

Phone Test

Description

Tests phone’s default application to make calls by dialling a test number.

Instructions

  1. Tab Press to Call button.
  2. Confirm by pressing Call.
  3. Hang up the call to return back to Pro-Diagnostics interface.

Additional Info

An active SIM card is needed to perform this test.

The test number to call is provided based on the region.

User confirms results by pressing pass or fail.

Headset Plug

Headset Plug

Description 

Check that the headset can be detected by the headset port of the device.

Note: Requires a compatible wired headset (such as the one provided by the OEM out of the box). 

Instructions

  1. Connect the headset to the device.

Additional Info

Pass or fail if the headset is detected by displaying “Headset Connected”

Note: iOS will work just with an iOS headset.

Headset Stereo

Headset Stereo

Description

An audio sample differentiating audio for left, right and both stereo channels is played through a compatible functional wired headset. This test ensure that both channels could be heard.

Note: Requires a compatible wired headset (such as the one provided by the OEM out of the box). 

Instructions

  1. Set volume level to max.
  2. Connect the headset to the device and put it on.
  3. Press Start to hear an audio sample.
  4. Confirm you heard the sample differentiating audio for left, right and both stereo channels at a reasonable volume and with good quality.

Pass or Fail based on what the user reports.

Note: iOS will work just with an iOS headset

Home Button

Home Button

Description

Tests the Home Button works properly.

Instructions

  1. Press the Home button to exit to the home screen.
  2. Press the Pro-Diagnostics logo from the Home Screen to return back to the App.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.
Expected outcome: Pressing the Home Button should open the Home Screen.

Note: For Android tap on the Task Manager Key to return back to the Pro-D app.

Jailbreaking or Root Check

Jailbreaking or Root Check

Description

Tests if the device’s Operating system is rooted (Android) or Jailbroken (Apple)

Instructions

Automated test.

Additional Info

If the device is not rooted (Android) or jailbroken (Apple) the test will pass.
User confirms results by pressing pass or fail.

LCD Fill

LCD Fill

Description

Test identifies dead pixels, discoloured areas or a burned image on the screen by cycling through solid Red/Green/Black/White backgrounds at full brightness to ensure the colours are displayed properly.

Note: Night Mode/Blue Light filter can cause the screen to appear to be yellow. For complete accuracy check that this mode is off to avoid false fails.

Instructions

  1. Swipe right to left to navigate through the different testing background screens.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

User confirms results by pressing pass or fail.

LCD Paint

LCD Paint

Description

Tests the touchscreen functionality for every sector of the screen.

Instructions

  1. Press Start to begin.
  2. Swipe your finger, side to side, across the entire screen surface until it is completely painted.

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

Test will show Pass option once the screen is completely painted in.

Note: In Android devices, with navigations keys, make sure to paint the LCD button area before the remain of the LCD to avoid the test to auto-fail if by mistake the navigations keys are touched.

User confirms results by pressing pass or fail.

LDI Check

Description

Check the Liquid Damage Indicator for liquid damage or ingress.

Instructions

  1. Inspect the LDI sensor.

Additional Info

Location of the Liquid Damage Sensor may differ depending on the model.

Note: If LDI is in a Battery compartment be sure to check prior to powering.

Pass or Fail based on what the user reports.

Loudspeaker

Loudspeaker

Description

Tests that loudspeaker works correctly.

Note: Depending on whether the model has more than one loud speaker, individual loudspeakers may be tested.

Instructions

  1. Press start to hear an audio sample playback through loud speaker.
  2. Confirm you can clearly hear the audio sample at reasonable volume and and no distortion from a distance.

Description

Check magnetometer sensor by moving the phone into various positions.

  1. Point the device in the directions shown on the test.

Note: Some phone models may require to calibrate this sensor by moving the phone in a figure 8 pattern, if so perform this calibration then resume testing.

Main Microphone Record

Main Microphone Record

Description

Tests the audio functionality for the main microphone.

Note: Avoid extra noisy environments to ensure accuracy.

Instructions

  1. Check the Pro-Diagnostics app has access to the microphones.
  2. Click Start Recording and say “testing main mic.”
  3. An automated play back of the recording will be played immediately.

Note: For Android cover the 2nd microphone with your finger.

Motion Sensors

Motion Sensors

Description

The motion sensor test combines the accelerometer and the gyroscope sensor tests in one. It guides the user into moving and rotating the device in a way that validates both sensors.

  1. Rotate the device in the directions shown on the test.

Power Button

Power Button

Description

Tests that the Power Button is functional.

Instructions

  1. Press the Power button to turn off the screen.
  2. Press the Power button again to turn it on.
  3. Navigate back to Diagnostics app.

Expected outcome: Power Button should turn the screen off and on.
Location of the Power Button may differ depending on the model.

Proximity and Light Sensor

Proximity and Light Sensor

Description

Checks the Auto Brightness functionality and the Proximity Sensor’s ability to sense distance.

Instructions

  1. Slowly put your hand over the top of the device.
  2. Screen will turn off and Proximity sensor test should be passed.
  3. Move your hand away and cover the top of the device again for the Light sensor test.

Additional Info

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

Positioning of the Proximity Sensor may differ according to the model, but is often located over the top of the device.

Receiver Speaker

Receiver Speaker

Description

Tests the receiver ear speaker functionality.
Note: To be used when customer complains about audio quality or hearing difficulties during a phone call.

Instructions

  1. Set volume level to max.
  2. Press start to hear an audio sample by holding the device to your ear.
  3. Confirm audio sample is at reasonable volume and with good quality.

Secondary Microphone Record

Description

Tests the audio functionality for the secondary microphone.

Note: Avoid extra noisy environments to ensure accuracy.

  2. Click Start Recording and say “testing secondary mic.”
  3. An automated play back of the recording will be played immediately.

Sim Card

Sim Card

Description

Tests if the SIM Card can be properly detected.

Note: If the device already has a SIM Card inside, the test will report its state automatically.

Instructions

  1. If the device has no SIM Card: Insert the Sim Card.

Additional Info

Note: A compatible carrier SIM is a prerequisite for the phone call test.

A SIM Card for the model tested has to be available in order to run the test as the clip to open the SIM Card tray.

A SIM should be inserted prior to running Diagnostics.

Stereo Speakers

Description

Tests both, left & right, stereo loud speakers.

Instructions

  1. Press Start to hear an audio sample playback through both speakers.
  2. Confirm you can clearly hear the audio sample at reasonable volume and with no distortion from a distance.

Pass or Fail based on what the user reports.

Tertiary Microphone Record

Description

Tests the audio functionality for the tertiary microphone.

Note: Avoid extra noisy environments to ensure accuracy.

Instructions

  1. Check the Pro-Diagnostics app has access to the microphones.
  2. An automated count down for audio recording will be displayed.
  3. When recording say testing tertiary microphone.
  4. An automated play back of the recording will be played immediately.

Additional Info

Follow on-screen instructions to perform this guided test.

Note: This test only apply for Apple devices.

Vibration

Description

Tests if the vibration functionality performs correctly by triggering the phone to vibrate continuously.

Instructions

  1. Evaluate whether the vibration is consistent and at a reasonable level before selecting pass or fail.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

Wi-Fi Connectivity

Description

Tests Wi-Fi access point detection functionality.

Note: For testing actual connectivity, there has to be a Wi-Fi network accessible.

Instructions

  1. Enable Wi-Fi option in order to run the test.

Additional Info

Automated test. Reports on what the phone detects.
If a Wi-Fi network is detected and listed, the device will pass.
